Beginning October 5, 2026, managed parking returns to the City curbside parking areas that have been complimentary during the New Palafox construction period.
This is more than a return to managed parking—it’s an opportunity to put what we’ve learned over the past year into practice. We’ve reviewed parking data and are making adjustments based on how Downtown Pensacola is being used, with updated technology, flexible payment options, and parking choices designed to make parking easier and fit the way you use downtown.

Why Is Managed Parking Returning?
Complimentary parking was provided to support downtown businesses, residents, employees and visitors during the Reimagine Palafox construction project. With construction nearing completion, the city is returning to managed on-street parking to improve access, introduce new parking options, and continue supporting a safe, accessible and economically vibrant downtown.
Why Not Keep All Parking In The Downtown Core FREE?
The purpose of managed parking is to provide safe, reliable and convenient access to City parking for as many people as possible. Managing parking in high-demand areas helps ensure spaces remain available throughout the day while supporting residents, businesses, employees and visitors.
All City parking is complimentary on Sundays, Mondays* and Federal Holidays, and more than 60% of City parking remains complimentary 24 hours a day, seven days a week, giving citizens a variety of parking options. Learn More >
Where Does the Parking Revenue Go?
Parking revenue is reinvested back into the City for parking improvements, public infrastructure, safety, accessibility, technology and other enhancements that strengthen downtown. These investments help maintain and enhance the downtown experience for everyone who spends time here. Learn More >
What Will Be Different After October 5?
The October 5 transition includes several improvements designed to make parking easier and more convenient. Citizens will benefit from Resident and Senior parking programs, enhanced signage, expanded payment options and a customer-first approach throughout the transition. When is Paid Parking in Effect?
Paid parking is in effect Tuesday* through Saturday. City parking is complimentary on Sundays, Mondays* and Federal Holidays.
How Much Will It Cost?
Tuesday – Thursday: $1 per hour
Friday: $1 per hour until 6 p.m., then $1.75* per hour after 6 p.m.
Saturday: $1.75* per hour all day
Jefferson Street Garage: $1.75* per hour at all times (excluding event parking)
Accessible Parking – FREE with disabled placard or plate
Sunday, Monday* and Federal Holidays – FREE

Where Does It Apply?

How Do I Pay?
You can pay for parking using the ParkMobile app, text to pay, ExpressPay (in the Jefferson Street Garage – Coming Soon) or at pay stations. ParkMobile offers a convenient way to pay, extend your time and receive reminders–all from your phone. Find out more on all the ways to pay >
Are There Discounts or Special Programs?
The City offers several programs that provide additional parking options for citizens.
•Resident Discount Program – City of Pensacola residents can register to pay $0.75/hr* for all City parking through the ParkMobile app.
•Senior Permit – Anyone over 65 years of age or older may purchase a monthly permit for convenient, affordable parking.
•Jefferson Street Garage Pass – Monthly parking is available for frequent garage users.
•On-street Permit – Monthly permits are available for designated on-street parking areas.

When Will People Start To Receive Citations?
The City’s initial focus is education and customer service. During the transition, citizens who park without paying will receive a warning notice instead of a citation. Warning notices do not include a fine and are intended to serve as an educational reminder that managed parking has resumed and to help citizens become familiar with the updated parking program.
Parking ambassadors will also be available throughout the transition to answer questions, provide assistance, and help ensure the return to managed parking is as smooth and customer-friendly. Learn More >
